Language's role in fostering neighbourly ties(opinion piece)

LANGUAGE continues to play an important role in the multi-faceted relationship between neighbouring countries. As a western writer reminded recently, people speaking the Malay language outnumber those speaking French, German or Italian.More......

I agree this ...cause French,German or Italian different with english.I have a friend who come from France told me ,most of them usually speak French to each other, english just a language assist for them.Beside this...almost all of the Malaysia neighbour country: Indonesia ,Brunei,Southern Thailand, Southern Philippines ,Southern Cambodia.......speaking the Malay language!!
